You're in the hospital for Clinicals. You hear the page overhead "Code Blue, One North. Code Blue, One North. " Suddenly, you realize that the Code is in your area. Your heart pounds, your hands start to shake, and you think "I'd love to help but I don't know what to do!!" Don't panic...we are here to help!!
This website is designed for Nursing students who have not yet graduated and anticipate participating in the management of cardiopulmonary/respiratory arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies at some point in their career. The two main goals of this module are:
1. To provide information about the basics of Code Management to novice members of a potential Code team
2. To decrease anxiety and increase confidence of novice team members when participating in a Code situation
At the end of this module, the student will be able to:
1. Summarize and describe the role of each member of a Code team
2. Know the basic supplies necessary to run a Code
3. Recognize elements of the 2015 AHA Guidelines for Code Management
4. Identify and discuss Non-Technical skills that are essential to successful Code Management
5. Plan for successful integration into the Code team at the level of their current skills
